AkademikerPension appoints Evervest as manager of real estate portfolio
The mandate covers AkademikerPension's entire directly owned real estate portfolio of 12 residential and commercial properties and brings Evervest's total assets under management to more than DKK 10 billion.
AkademikerPension has appointed Evervest as manager of a substantial part of the pension fund's directly owned real estate portfolio.
The portfolio comprises 12 properties with a combined property value of more than DKK 3 billion and includes residential, student housing and commercial properties in and around Copenhagen and in Vejle. With the mandate, Evervest's total assets under management increase to more than DKK 10 billion. The agreement takes effect on 1 September 2026.
Under the agreement, Evervest assumes asset management responsibility for the directly owned portfolio, allowing AkademikerPension to focus on its role as investor and strategic owner. The agreement does not cover AkademikerPension's indirect real estate investments through funds or development and construction projects.
Søren Møller-Larsson, Head of Real Estate at AkademikerPension, explains that the portfolio has grown and become more diverse, which places different demands on operations:
"We have met an organisation that treats operations as a professional discipline rather than as administration. That is rarer than one might think. Evervest can get closer to the individual property than we can ourselves, and they bring specialist competences we would otherwise have had to hire for.
We use our own people to source and acquire the properties and to manage allocation. We set the direction for what we want to own, what we develop and how we intend to make money, and we will work closely with Evervest on operations. This is our members' savings, and it is people's homes and workplaces. Operations must be built around that too."
For Evervest, the agreement is an example of the type of mandate the company was built to take on. Larger institutional portfolios must be translated into clear decisions, concrete execution and ongoing value creation:
"We are grateful for the trust AkademikerPension has placed in us. This is a portfolio where residential and commercial assets place different demands, and where results only show in day-to-day operations. Our task is to keep strategy and operations closely connected and to give AkademikerPension a clear basis for decisions throughout," says William Kanta, CEO and co-founder of Evervest.
The agreement also broadens Evervest's mandate base across residential and commercial real estate and supports the company's ambition to build a scalable management platform for institutional real estate investors. AkademikerPension was advised by Bruun & Hjejle and caps lock partners.
